YI QUAN MASTERS

WANG XIANG ZHAI (1885-1963)

 

Wang Xiang-Zhai studied Hsing Yi Chuan from the famous Master Kao Wan Sum. 

In 1907,  Wang began to travel throughout China to broaden his kung fu knowledge. He also taught at the Peking Army Academy (1913) and at the Fuchoo Military School in Fukien Province (1918). He visited the Shaolin Temple and met Hung Lin, a monk and representative of the Sum Yi Chuan.

In the mid 1920's, he created  Yi Quan.

Yu Peng-Si  (1902-1983) 

OU-YANG MIN ¡@

Yu Peng-Si studied shaolin kung-fu from a famous local master named Mi Jian Hua in Shanghai. In 1928, he studied Yi Chuan from Wang Xiang Zhai. 

Yu added Tibetan Buddhist chi kung practices to Wang's Yi chuan system. The 3,000 years old exercises of chi kung are designed to promote internal energy through breathing, meditation, body movement, and standing postures. 

As a Qi Gong medical practitioner, Yu received an invitation from the Stanford University Research Institute to conduct medical research in California. 

He claimed to have the ability to release Qi which, without body contact, caused an opponent to fall down, or bounced back. According to his wife Ou-Yang Min, Yu conducted research on human's nerve system and body logistics.

LEUNG TSZ PANG (1899-1974)

Leung Tsz Pang learned Yi Quan from Ou-Yang Min, Yu Pang Si' wife. In Shanghai, Leung was familiar with Wu Kam Chuen (Wu Style Tai Chi), and Tin Shiu Lun (Yang Style Tai Chi). 

Leung taught Yi Quan, and Tai Chi in Hong Kong since 1946. Also, he was the first man who introduced Liuhebafa to Hong Kong. Bruce Lee had once attended his lectures in Hong Kong before studying in USA.

SUN DI (1917-1999)

Sun Di learned Yi Quan and Liuhebafa from Leung Tsz Pang. He practiced Yi Quan with his friend, Lee Ying Ngon, who acquired inspiration from Wang Xiang Zhai's letters. 

He also learned Yang Style Tai Chi from Chan Mei Ming - Leung Kin Yu. 

He developed his Yi Quan Dance with the consolidation of Yi Quan, Bagua, and Xing Yi. He also created a set of effective training methods on Zhan Zhong.

HO KA-HING (1951-  )

Ho Ka-Hing was brought up in a Wushu family. He taught Wushu while he was 16 in China. 

Ho learned from Sun Di, and was regarded as the thorough transmission of Sun's skills. Ho teaches his students through inspiration from daily life, creative thoughts, and verifications.

PETER ZIBOCE(1953- )

In 1970, Ziboce first learned Zhang Zhuang from Wong Kwong-Kee, a friend of Ho Ka-Hing. In the 1990s, Ziboce started to learn Yi Quan Dance from Ho. 

With the inspiration of the mindedness, Ziboce develops further Yi Quan and Liuhebafa, into a healing classic, named the ZIBOCE DANCE.
