HISTORY & DEVELOPMENT

Peter Z tracked the history and the development of Tai Chi Chuan.

Based on the articles of various Martial Arts from 1600s, and the studies on various styles of Tai Chi Chuan, Peter Z concluded his founding as below:

1. Cheng San-Feng is not the founder of Tai Chi Chuan.

Cheng wrote an article 'The Main Road' on Taoist Qi Gong Practice. The opening paragraph related to the concept of Tai Chi, had been quoted repeatedly by Tai Chi masters since 1865. In the same article, Cheng carried on saying that all movements including Dao-Yin, Qi Gong, massage, health care, etc were outsiders.

Cheng San-Feng practiced Qi Gong for longevity, not just for health. According to the collections of the Cheng's articles, Peter Z found that Cheng's philosophy had no Martial Art intention, and the way of his Qi Gong practice was not relevant to Tai Chi Chuan.

2. Founder of Tai Chi Chuan is Yang Lu-Chan.

Yang began to teach the nobleman in 1865. He converted the Chen Family's art, and renamed the exercise as TAI CHI CHUAN.

3. Tai Chi theories and principles

The most referred articles on Tai Chi of the Ching Dynasty are of the authors Wong Chung-Ngok, Wu Yu-Shang and Lee Yik-Yu. However, Peter Z found the articles were most likely the 'cut and paste' versions from a basket of older Martial Arts articles of Ming to Ching Dynasty. The referred Martial Arts included staffs, spears, swords, weapons, Shaolin, and techniques in battles.

For example, the 13 postures as said, are unable to explain all the movements in the Tai Chi Sets.

4. What is Tai Chi?

Peter Z re-organized the concept of Martial Arts according to his knowledge, and named it ZIBOCE TAI CHI.

The direction ahead is BEYOND TAI CHI :

a. Re-organized 13 postures which cover all Martial Arts and Qi Gong movements, applicable since 500s bc. (Foundation for creativity, & development)

b. A system that involves Decisive, Process, & Response. (Live Tai Chi)

c. Relaxation and exercise at the same time (Mental and physical stress release)

d. Meditation and Zen (Health, and recovery)

e. Ziboce's focus is on Self-expression, Self-vitalization, i.e., Zen, Dance.
